Persuasion Paper (Late 80s)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/td>\nMrs. Lechter Seigel,<\/strong><\/p>\n

From the start I fear,<\/strong>
\nThat you’ll be unclear,<\/strong>
\nAnd it’s best that I go straight to the heart.<\/strong>
\nMy point is to convey,<\/strong>
\nThat I deserve an “A”,<\/strong>
\nFor this paper which I believe to be art.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But alone this simply won’t do,<\/strong>
\nI need reasons supporting my view.<\/strong>
\nSo I have chosen three arguments to weigh.<\/strong>
\nAnd it wouldn’t be fair,<\/strong>
\nAfter this paper I did dare,<\/strong>
\nTo give me anything less than that “A”!<\/strong><\/p>\n

My Argument may seem fantastical,<\/strong>
\n Or perhaps just on the side of radical,<\/strong>
\n But I know this paper is unique.<\/strong>
\n My idea is new,<\/strong>
\n All the way through,<\/strong>
\n And not one part is anywhere antique.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This paper has imagination,<\/strong>
\n And stirs fascination,<\/strong>
\n Which most essays you read lack.<\/strong>
\n Try the test,<\/strong>
\n Leave this paper rest.<\/strong>
\n But I just know you’ll soon come back!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Please examine the lines,<\/strong>
\n As they’re all in rhymes,<\/strong>
\n Which is not an easy feat to do.<\/strong>
\n So with this in mind,<\/strong>
\n Please be kind, <\/strong>
\nAnd hear me all the way through.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes the grades I have gotten,<\/strong>
\nOn my other essays were rotten,<\/strong>
\nBut isn’t this one better than the rest?<\/strong>
\nAnd if this is so,<\/strong>
\nThen the grade you bestow,<\/strong>
\nHad better be higher, I protest!<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the grade you present,<\/strong>
\nMust be what you meant,<\/strong>
\nAs my future lies in your powers.<\/strong>
\nAnd what you provide,<\/strong>
\nMay eventually decide,<\/strong>
\nThe way in which my career flowers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Don’t treat this work,<\/strong>
\nAs if it were murk,<\/strong>
\nUntil you understand it well.<\/strong>
\nOnly then can you judge,<\/strong>
\nIf it truly is sludge,<\/strong>
\nAnd decide on the fate that you’ll spell.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lastly please note,<\/strong>
\nThat I used as I wrote,<\/strong>
\nAll the things that were required by you.<\/strong>
\nMy argument is plain,<\/strong>
\nAnd I have points to explain,<\/strong>
\nThe assignment from my point of view.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The lines are concise,<\/strong>
\nAnd my vocabulary precise,<\/strong>
\nAs I brought up each point one-by-one.<\/strong>
\nThe opposition I said,<\/strong>
\nBut with the pro’s I led,<\/strong>
\nTill I felt my side was won.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I appealed to pathos,<\/strong>
\nLogos, and ethos,<\/strong>
\nAnd it helped to gain my support.<\/strong>
\nSo now when you look,<\/strong>
\nAt the effort I took,<\/strong>
\nYou can see that I have a nice report.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In conclusion I repeat,<\/strong>
\nThat my argument is complete,<\/strong>
\nBut in the end you’ll do as you see fit.<\/strong>
\nAnd meanwhile I pray,<\/strong>
\nThat I’ll receive an “A”,<\/strong>
\nThough a “B” wouldn’t bother me a bit!<\/strong><\/td>\n
